Pinterest Analytics, New Look and Verified Website

Pinterest.com is one of the up and coming social media sites and more importantly is a great source of short term traffic to your website or blog. A correctly placed pin can drive targeted traffic to the page it was pinned from for 36-72 hours. I will be writing more on Pinterest basics coming in later posts, this post is about how to get the new look early and how to get Pinterest Analytics.

The new look is available to anyone to has a website listed from their profile page by following these simple directions: https://help.pinterest.com/entries/23327731

The Analytics are available to anyone on the new look that also has a verified website. This will be easy for anyone who has ever copy and pasted a code snippet into your web page before but may be intimidating for someone unfamiliar with the process and may need to refer to their webmaster to complete this task. Here are the directions: http://business.pinterest.com/verify/

What does SEO mean? What is a Spider?

First, let's start with defining some of the most common terms.

SEO - is short for Search Engine Optimization, this is a broad term for all the things that go into getting your website, blog, video or other page to show up on search engine results for your keywords.

On Page SEO - The Optimization that you can actually see on the page that includes the page title, paragraph titles and content (descriptions or articles).

Off Page SEO - Optimization that not visible to human visitors but is seen by the search engine robots including meta data, keywords, incoming links and more (lots more info to come, let us start slow).

Spider or Robot - Search engines constantly search through the internet looking for updated and new pages to add to their listings and the program that does this is called a spider or sometimes referred to as a robot.
